The region of Coquimbo which is divided into three counties, Elqui, Limarí and Choapa, lies between parallel 29 ° 02 ' and 32 ° 16 ' south latitude and 69 ° 49 ' west longitude up to the Pacific Ocean. How to get to La Casona Distante

The EcoLodge is located in a secluded land property, in Alcohuaz locality in the commune of Paihuano. You can reach the complex by air, car or bus.

By car

If you travel by car, whether the north or south of Chile , you must take the Panamerican Highway North (Ruta 5).

The principal point of access is La Serena where you must take the Internacional route CH-41 in order to start the road which leads to the Elqui Valley . You will have to pass through Vicuña city and the town of Rivadavia . From the last named take D-485 route in order to continue the way to the Complex. You will have to pass the town of Paihuano , Montegrande, Pisco Elqui and Horcón to finally get to Alcohuaz.

Ruta D-485 is paved as far as the village of Pisco Elqui . From that place to La Casona Distante there is a 17 kms dirt road kept in good conditions. The route is well sing-posted.

By plane

The quickest way to the valley is by plane to La Serena and by car once in that city. Three frequencies of flights exist from Santiago up to La Florida airport-La Serena city. Is a 45 minutes flight and no stops between.

Money

We recommend to carry cash in chilean pesos or american dollars. You can also take cheques. It is a good alternative for people who do not like travelling with large quantities of cash.

There is none of cash dispensers (ATMs) in Alcohuaz or in the Complex; they are available in Vicuña, the nearest place from La Casona Distante (50 km distant). The best-known and most widely used system of cash dispensers is called Redbanc.

Dispensers take the cards of local banks and Cirrus cards, and function 24 hours a day. The exchange rates employed are quite favourable.

Communications

In that remote area such as Alcohuaz there is not telephone service available (fixed and mobile). Internet service is also not available. The nearest place where to find these services is the town of Pisco Elqui (17 km distant from the Complex).
